WA — A medal of solidarity
I have been helping a project WA by Ogatus Funakoshi ladies, Jo Nagasaka and Marci (Paris). WA is handmade medal by women of the city of Ogatsu Funakoshi who suffered in the 2011 tsunami. Black stone(slate) from the roof tiles of collapsed homes are recycled into a symbol of hope. For six centuries black stone from Ogatsu has been used to make "suzuri" ink stones for Japanese calligraphy.
With a great support of Svenskt Tenn, Bonniers Konsthall and Marabouparken, WA is now available for 100kr/each at their store!
100% of proceeds from the sale of this medal is given to Ogatsu victims aid associations.
